Start out coy (not Koi, the fish)

Liberals cool to idea of merger with NDP – The Globe and Mail.

Let’s be honest, King, St. Laurent, Pearson, Trudeau, all these Prime Ministers shaped the Canada we live in. So the Liberals have a patrimony – as did the Progressive Conservatives (Diefenbaker, Stanfield, Clark, Mulroney). At an emotional level, it made no sense that Reform would crush the Progressive Conservatives. PCs were my neighbors – they were the Red Tories (I’ll tell you about them later). But, it happened. The only question is how far Liberals must be crushed in order to sign on to reality. Could we come up with a name for this new party? How about the “Progressive Democrats”?
