The Wacky West

Four challenges that could keep Harper up at night – The Globe and Mail. I suspect that many former Reform Party MPs have been surprised at the tight hold the PM has over what issues the Conservatives think are important. Reform was, in the prairie tradition, a protest party. Has the perspective of actually governing and getting reelected sidelined the old issues? If some Conservative MPs go rogue or if the PM feels he has to give these supporters something, we could now be in for vote splitting on the right. On the other hand, party discipline in Canada is much more effective than in the US.
