I did not know this – more acreage world wide is used to grow cotton than to grow food. What’s the alternative? Probably making garments that will last much longer. Most of the clothes I through out are “used up”.

Analysis: carbon capture looks really, really expensive. There are two implications from this article – first that we should be using carbon capture on all energy producers which do “burning.” Second, given a growing population, is there even enough agricultural land to accommodate biomass production?

A nice, short article on why energy efficiency should be the priority over alternative energy sources. The article makes two interesting points – that businesses and citizens like efficiency because it’s cheaper and that a government which owns their utilities has a much easier time implementing change.
